Sustainable Storage Solutions

In tandem with the NDC and leading institutions, we have looked to invest in environmentally efficient buildings, in order to reduce our direct emissions impact.

Constantine London West provides a secure environment within a facility designed and constructed with energy-saving and sustainable energy production systems at its core.

The storage environment has been designed to fully utilise our integrated sustainable energy systems. This both reduces the carbon footprint of Constantine London West and provides benchmark sustainability standards for our industry.

Sustainable Partnerships

We are working with Planet Mark to achieve their sustainability certification by following their robust three-step process: Measure, Engage, and Communicate. We are committed to measuring our impact, engaging everyone in the business and communicating our progress. We want to have a positive impact on the planet and society by measuring our emissions, cutting our carbon footprint, and embedding sustainability in our business practices.

Through our commitment to this process, we are currently measuring our carbon footprint and are looking forward to securing Planet Mark Business Certification for the first year. To retain Planet Mark Certification, we must reduce our measured emissions each year by a minimum target of 2.5%, but we will be targeting a 5% reduction.

Turtle Crates

Constantine is the exclusive UK partner of Turtle providing our clients with a sustainable and innovative solution to the safe packing and transportation of artwork with industry-leading performance.

Turtle is the result of extensive testing to develop and refine the unique properties of this climate crate, with materials designed and developed for use by aerospace engineers. This is a radically innovative product that brings the standard of fine art packaging to its highest level and has been in use by some of the world’s leading Museums for over 25 years.

Each reusable crate has a lifespan of over twenty-five years and are made in the UK. If you'd like to find out more information, then please contact our team at [email protected]

Hire Crating Service

Over 200 reusable crates from the “Island Laminate Range” are available to hire via Constantine. Crates available include Picture, Object and Slotted variations.

The crates are constructed to a high Museum specification and have been used for many years by leading UK Museums. All of the crates also carry the ISPM15 wood packaging stamp.

These crates are available to hire from our facilities in London and Scotland, with daily rates also offered as well as longer hire periods. Please send all enquiries to [email protected]

Upcycling Used Materials

We have recently supported two organisations that used our bespoke wooden crates and upcycled them for important community projects.

Cosmic Constructions is an ecologically sustainable building and design social enterprise. They have most recently fabricated a new workspace for Mother House Studios which is the world's first artist studio with integrated childcare.

We also work with Rhys Pritchard, a furniture designer and maker who recently led the Re:Works programme. This collaboration between the V&A, Participatory City and residents of Barking & Dagenham gave a team of local people the skills to make stools and benches from our used crates. This seating was installed at The Great Exhibition Road Festival 2021.
