Constantine has been researching the effects of the Olympics on any transport from the opening of the Olympic Village on 13th July through to the closing of the Olympic Park on 14th September 2012. Members of our staff have attended the various workshops set up by Transport for London and also have attended the FTA Olympic Conference to further assist in our action plan for transport during this time.
If Museums and Galleries are planning any shipments during the Olympics, we ask that they inform Constantine as early as possible so that we can plan the transport using the various skills and tools provided by these workshops, FTA and TFL. We are also currently working with TFL on an action plan to cover transport needs during the Olympics.
For your information, please find the relevant dates that will affect transport around London during the Games:
2nd - 5th June - Diamond Jubilee
13th July - Official opening of the Olympic Village
27th July - Official Opening Ceremony for the Olympics
28th July - 12th August - Olympic Games
29th - 9th September - Paralympics Games
14th September - Olympic Park closes
Throughout July - the torch relay throughout London
We have attached some links that may prove useful to you to help with planning during the Olympic Events but during this time, Museums and Galleries will need to be flexible with their transport requirements and allow collections to take place outside of normal working hours or allow for longer journey times.
